First and only edition. Uncommon, 4 copies only on OCLC - BnF, NYPL, Fisher Library, Toronto, Danish Union Catalogue. Compiled by Babron (1772-1841), a frigate captain, who began work on it when 22, but was only able to finally publish after his retirement from the sea in 1813. In his introduction he explains that he became convinced that in France there "was no work which brought together in a single volume, at a moderate price, all of the practices of the naval art; that is a vade mecum to serve as a guide to young sailors".
