Professor of economics at the universities of Modena, Padua, and Siena, and a member of the Accademia dei Lincei, Valenti (1852-1920) is described by Cossa as "a meritous agricultural economist", praised for his monograph on the economic ideas of Gian Domenico Romagnosi.
