A Strategy for the West.New York: [privately printed], 1983 Stock Code: 148285
First edition, first printing, inscribed by the 37th President on the front free endpaper "To Strobe Talbott with warm regards - from Richard Nixon 12-15-83".
Strobe Talbott (born 1946) was then Time Magazine's principal correspondent on Soviet-American relations. He later served as Deputy Secretary of State from 1994 to 2001, and as president of Brookings Institution from 2002 to 2017, an institution partly dedicated to securing international peace; Talbott's lifelong work in foreign relations and analysis make this a particularly appropriate presentation for Nixon's book on foreign policy.
In Real Peace, the former President outlined his view of how lasting peace can be secured between the Soviet Union and the United States, achieved through the US taking a much more assertive position with its military and economic power. Nixon published the work privately.
Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket.
