Remarks on the Celebrated Calculations of the Value of South-Sea-Stock, in The Flying-Post of the 9th of April, 1720.
Paragraph by Paragraph. In order to remove the Aspersions thereby cast on the Present Contract with that Company, to the great Discouragement of the New Subscribers.London: printed for J. Roberts, 1720 Stock Code: 117455
First edition. On the 9 April 1720 The Flying-Post published an article promising South-Sea speculators huge profits. This anonymous response goes through the article paragraph by paragraph, seeking to refute every claim. Published prior to the collapse of the value of the stock in September 1720, the pamphlet was a muted voice of reason against the extravagant claims being made as the South-Sea bubble inflated.
Octavo (199 x 119 mm), pp. 31. Disbound pamphlet with remnants of original spine, red speckled edges.
Contemporary manuscript additions to letterpress table on p. 23. Some very light foxing, a few pages lightly creased, else a very good copy.
