This anthology of Restoration poetry was compiled by John Hadfield, the founder of the Cupid Press, and is the second instalment in his triptych, the other two being Georgian-, and Elizabethan Love Songs. Originally issued in marbled boards, this copy is in an elegant Sangorski & Sutcliffe binding.
This volume gathers works by 42 poets such as John Dryden, Aphra Benn, Matthew Prior, and the Earl of Rochester, as well as anonymous verses.
Octavo (229 x 142 mm). Finely bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe / Zaehnsdorf in red-orange morocco, titles in gilt to purple-brown morocco spine label, two raised bands, single gilt fillets to spine, boards, edges, and turn-ins, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, others untrimmed.
