First edition, first printing, signed by the author on the title page, one of 500 unnumbered copies of the author's first book, a collection of poems drawing on his experiences as a forest lookout in Yosemite. Gary Snyder (b. 1930) is a leading American poet and environmentalist associated with the Beat Movement. He was described by Murray Bookchin as "The poet laureate of the deep ecology movement".

Octavo. Original paper wrappers, Japanese stab-binding, printed paper label to front cover.

Condition

Contemporary ownership inscription on verso of front cover. Light rubbing to extremities, patterned paper peeling a little from the corners of the card wrappers, a few marks within, a very good copy indeed.
