Sartoris.New York: Harcourt Brace, 1929 Stock Code: 131845
With the uncommon and fragile dust jacketFirst edition, first printing. Sartoris is a revised version of Faulkner's Flags in the Dust, the full text of which was not published until 1973. It was the first of Faulkner's tales set in Yoknapatawpha County, and introduces many of the characters that appear in his later works. Due to the fragile paper stock used for the dust jacket copies in such good condition are notably uncommon.
Octavo. Original black cloth, titles to spine and front cover in red, top edge red, others untrimmed. With the Arthur Hawkins designed dust jacket.
Spine minimally rolled, touch of wear to spine ends and bottom edge, faint toning to fore edge; else a near-fine copy in the remarkably bright jacket with sunned spine and a couple of tiny chips to spine ends and tips.
