William Edward Moyses Reilly (18271886) volunteered to serve as a battery officer in Crimea where he was quickly promoted. "After the fall of Sevastopol he was deputy adjutant quartermaster-general at the headquarters of the army until it left the Crimea in June 1856. From December 1856 to April 1859 Reilly was aide-de-camp to Sir Richard Dacres, commanding the Royal Artillery in Ireland, and under Dacres's direction compiled the official account of the artillery operations of the siege of Sevastopol" (ODNB).

Spine ends softened, somewhat darkened, endpapers renewed, small abrasion with loss to gutter margin of front free endpaper, light toning and occasional faint potting, a very good copy.
