First edition thus, second overall, one of 415 copies, of this poetry collection by Arthur Symons. This edition was significantly expanded from the first, which was published in 1892. Arthur Symons (1865-1945) was a poet and literary critic, member of the Rhymer's Club, contributor to The Yellow Book, and literary editor of The Savoy. This copy is from the library of author, editor, and art critic, Joseph William Gleeson White (1851-1898), with his bookplate to the front pastedown. Gleeson White was the first serving editor of The Studio magazine, and edited the poetry collection Ballades and Rondeaus (1887), in which two of Symons's poems, Vestigia and A Roundel of Rest, featured.
Octavo. Original dark green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, fore and bottom edges untrimmed.
Contemporary ownership inscription to front free endpaper. A touch of wear to head of spine, minor rubbing to covers, a couple of faint marks to rear cover, offsetting to endpapers, two tiny dots to front free endpaper, else a near-fine copy.
