Notes

First modern-English edition of the Middle English narrative poem, composed around the late-13th/early-14th century and detailing the quest of an English King to recapture his wife from a fairy king. The poem is a significant blend of classical myth and medieval English literature. This rendition was undertaken by Edward Eyre Hunt (1885-1953), then a Harvard student, later an economist. The work is scarce - Copac locates only three copies in the UK (British Library, Cambridge, and Oxford) although it is better represented in US institutions.
