NotesFirst modern-English edition of the Middle English narrative poem, composed around the late-13th/early-14th century and detailing the quest of an English King to recapture his wife from a fairy king. The poem is a significant blend of classical myth and medieval English literature. This rendition was undertaken by Edward Eyre Hunt (1885-1953), then a Harvard student, later an economist. The work is scarce - Copac locates only three copies in the UK (British Library, Cambridge, and Oxford) although it is better represented in US institutions.
Sextodecimo. Original brown cloth-backed cream paper-covered boards, printed paper label to spine, front cover lettered in brown.
Neat contemporary ownership signature to front free endpaper. Pages opened a little roughly at head. A very good copy.
With the exception of framed items*, Peter Harrington offers free delivery on all UK orders of rare books, maps and prints placed through this website. Delivery to USA and the rest of the world is similarly free for orders over £200.
