(Heart of a Dog.)Paris: YMCA-Press, 1969 Stock Code: 146141
First separate edition in Russian of Bulgakov's suppressed satirical masterpiece, originally written in 1925 and not published in the Soviet Union until 1987. The text had only been printed in Russian in clandestine samizdat editions, and in two European magazine editions in 1968, the Frankfurt journal Grani, and the London journal Student.
Octavo. Original cream wrappers, titles printed in black to spine and front cover, crossed-out heart design to front cover in red and black.
Very faint peripheral toning to wrappers, minute bumping to spine head and lower right tip, the binding otherwise firm and clean, title page expertly stabilized, else internally crisp; a near-fine copy.
