One of ten signed proof copiesFirst edition, signed limited issue, number 5 of 10 author's proofs, signed by both the author and illustrator, from a total run of 100 copies, of which 60 were for sale. This copy has an additional inscription by Heaney quoting from his poem Fosterling, "Air to brighten, Time to be dazzled, and the heart to lighten", facing the frontispiece. These poems were first published as "Squarings" in Seeing Things in 1991.
Square octavo. Original natural calf, titles blocked in blind to front cover, pale green endpapers, edges untrimmed. Housed in a blue cloth solander box, titles to front cover and spine in silver.
