Surrealism.Faber and Faber Limited, London , 1936 Stock Code: 91486
NotesFirst edition, first impression. The author's scarce monograph on the Surrealist exhibition of June 1936, with essays by André Breton, Hugh Sykes Davies, Paul Éluard, Georges Hugnet. Uncommon in the dust jacket, designed by Roland Penrose, with his now classic photo-montage design with a surreal shell and key over a typographic background.
Octavo. Original grey cloth, spine lettered in black and red. With the dust jacket.
96 black and white photographic plates.
Cloth darkened at edges and spine, in the jacket that has chips at spine ends and extremities, a large closed tear to rear panel, small closed tears to head and foot of front panel, and tape repairs to verso. Still a very good copy.
