First edition, first printing, and uncommon thus. This is an excellent study giving brief historical accounts of the greats, accompanied by a wonderful collection of photographs, many of them previously unpublished. Under the heading "Other Voices", Fernett finds a place for some of the more obscure swing organisations, including the all-girl Sweethearts of Rhythm, Charlie Elgar's Dreamland and Municipal Pier Orchestra, and Zack Whyte and His Chocolate Beau Brummels.
