Swing out. Great Negro Dance Bands.Midland, Michigan: The Pendell Company, 1970 Stock Code: 143025
First edition, first printing, and uncommon thus. This is an excellent study giving brief historical accounts of the greats, accompanied by a wonderful collection of photographs, many of them previously unpublished. Under the heading "Other Voices", Fernett finds a place for some of the more obscure swing organisations, including the all-girl Sweethearts of Rhythm, Charlie Elgar's Dreamland and Municipal Pier Orchestra, and Zack Whyte and His Chocolate Beau Brummels.
Quarto. Original white cloth, title in black to spine and front board. With dust jacket.
Jacket spine sunned, a few nicks, chips and tears, closed tear at foot of last three leaves. A very good copy.
