First edition, first printing, of Updike's second collection of poetry. Of the 66 poems collected here 3 were previously unpublished, and 47 were published in The New Yorker, for whom Updike had written regularly since 1954.

Octavo. Original brown cloth-backed blue boards, spine lettered in gilt and silver, front cover lettered in silver, publisher's device blocked in blind to rear cover, top edge blue. With the dust jacket.

Condition

A couple of faint marks to front cover; else a fine copy in the jacket with minor rubbing to extremities, tiny chip to head of rear panel.
