Notes

First edition, first printing, presentation copy from the author, inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To Mr. Robert S. McNamara, in friendship and appreciation D Horowitz Jerusalem November 1969". The recipient was Robert McNamara (1916-2009), United States Secretary of Defense from 1961 to 1968, and a significant figure in the Cold War, having a major role in formulating America's foreign policy of flexible response, and promoting the escalation of the Vietnam War. The author David Horowitz (1889-1979) served as first Governor of the Bank of Israel, from 1954 to 1971. In the present work he outlines his method of ending world poverty, through the application of Keynesian economic policies on a global level. The book was sold with the rest of McNamara's library in 2019, with the auction slip loosely inserted.
