The Atrocity Exhibition.London, Jonathan Cape, 1970 Stock Code: 128728
NotesFirst edition, first impression. Doubleday planned a US edition under the same title in the same year, but Nelson Doubleday, Jr. cancelled the publication, fearing legal action from celebrities depicted in the book. The print run was "destroyed immediately prior to distribution" (Pringle). Consequently the first US edition was not published until 1972, released by the Grove Press under the title Love and Napalm: Export USA.
Octavo. Original black boards, titles to spine in gilt, top edge pink. With the dust jacket.
Negligible bumps to spine ends; else a fine copy in the lightly toned jacket, tiny nicks to head of front and rear flap folds.
