Notes

First edition, first printing, of the influential biography that was Alex Haley's first book. Haley met Malcolm X in 1960 when he interviewed him for a piece on the Nation of Islam in the Reader's Digest, of which Haley was then senior editor. They met again when Haley interviewed the activist for Playboy, and the present book was based on a series of over 50 interviews between 1963 and Malcolm X's assassination in February 1965.
