The Book of Ahania.Clairvaux: by the Trianon Press for The William Blake Trust, 1973 Stock Code: 147439
First edition thus, number 372 of 750 copies so bound, from a total edition of 808 copies.
The Trianon Press, in collaboration with The William Blake Society, produced a series of fine facsimiles of Blake's books based on copies in the Rosenwald Collection at the Library of Congress. These facsimiles were printed using the collotype process onto Arches rag paper matching that used by Blake, and colour was applied via stencils in exact facsimile of the originals. These beautifully produced books are now highly regarded in their own right.
From the library, though unmarked as such, of David Lindsay, 28th Earl of Crawford and 11th Earl of Balcarres (1900-1975), who served as chairman of the National Trust from 1945 to 1965, alongside serving as trustee of the Tate and National Galleries, the British Museum, and the National Library of Scotland.
Quarto. Original black quarter morocco, spine lettered in gilt, blue marbled sides. Housed in the original marbled slipcase.
Colour frontispiece, illustrated title page, and 5 plates.
Light abrasion to rear joint. A near-fine copy.
