First edition thus, limited issue, number 356 of 500 copies printed on handmade paper; a further 12 copies were printed on vellum, of which 10 were for sale. The Book of Genesis "constitutes Cayley Robinson's finest achievement as a book illustrator" (ODNB). Cayley Robinson's The Death of Abel, reproduced as the third plate and held at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, is considered his most enduring work.
