First edition thus, publisher Arnold Fawcus's copy, copy A of 26 lettered copies reserved for Lessing J. Rosenwald, the Library of Congress, the Trustees of the William Blake Trust and the Publishers, from a limited edition of 426 copies printed on Arches pure rag paper made to match that used by Blake, each page watermarked with Blake's monogram. This reserved copy derives from the publisher's archive held by the descendants of the Trianon Press's founder and publisher Arnold Fawcus. The Book of Thel has been described as: "The first, the simplest, and the most charming of the prophetic books... best understood as a rewriting of Milton's Comus" (A Blake Dictionary, S. Foster Damon.)
