The Church of England. [St Paul's Cathedral]. Stock Code: 35953
NotesA vintage print in exceptionally large format, signed on the mount by the photographer, of St Paul's Cathedral taken from the south bank of the Thames. Benington was part of the Pictorialist school and best known for his portraiture. His friend and associate Alvin Langdon Coburn made very similar images of London a few years after Benington and that later work must have been influenced by its forerunners. A rare and highly impressive photograph.
Original platinum print, mounted and framed behind glass. Photograph size: 445 x 368 mm. Frame size: 620 x 510 mm.
Some very minor oxidization to the edges of the print, a little conservation to one edge but a superb example.
