First edition, large paper issue, one of 25 copies only on handmade paper and bound in four parts. With a pencilled note on the front free endpaper dated March 1887 stating this to have been the first set delivered to the publishers and given by one of them - Albert Ellis - to the writer of the note. It was published simultaneously with the trade edition.
2 volumes in 4, large octavo. Original japon backed blue boards, white paper title label to each spine, pages uncut.

Small blot to title page of the first part, light crease at corner of the frontispiece, mild browning to the terminal leaves in each volume, tips of the odd board a trifle rubbed, scuff to front board of the fourth part, spines a little tanned and with the occasional nibble to the heads and tails. An excellent set.
