The Complete Works.
Edited from numerous manuscripts by Walter W. Skeat.London, Oxford University Press, 1962 Stock Code: 134017
NotesA handsomely bound copy of Chaucer's complete works. Skeat was perhaps the leading medievalist of his day. His edition of Chaucer's works, first published in seven volumes in 1894, remained the standard for almost half a century after publication, and its "interpretative and historical notes were regularly consulted by editors working on the Riverside edition of Chaucer, published in 1987" (ODNB).
Octavo (175 x 117 mm). Finely bound by Bayntun in red polished calf, light blue morocco label, elaborate tooling to spine gilt, twin rule to boards gilt, inner dentelles gilt, marbled endpapers, gilt edges.
Mild partial toning to endpapers. An excellent copy.
