The Control of Industry.
With an introduction by J. M. Keynes.London, Nisbet & Co. Ltd; Cambridge, at the University Press, 1923 Stock Code: 140287
NotesFirst edition, first impression. The copy of the British economist Lionel Robbins, with his ownership signature to the front free endpaper, and various marginal lines in the text. Robbins has annotated the rear free endpaper with page references and a few jottings, "effect on possibilities of combination", "CP Cannan", "integration two impulses 1. national 2 psychological". He has also annotated p. 17: "accumulation of knowledge" and "territorial division". Robbins, along with Keynes, was the leading British economist of the inter-war period; at the London School of Economics, he "dominated the economics department for thirty years and built it up to its pre-eminent position in British economics" (ODNB). This overview of industrial control was the fourth in the Cambridge Economic Handbook series, edited by John Maynard Keynes, with whom Robertson worked closely.
Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine and front cover lettered in black.
Spine sunned, light rubbing at extremities, endpapers toned. A good copy.
