Notes

First US edition, first printing, of Hayek's criticism of scientism. "Hayek used the term scientism to refer to the slavish imitation of the methods of the physical sciences without regard for the innate differences between physical and non-physical reality" (The New Palgrave). This volume collects 17 papers, most of which first appeared in Economica between 1941 and 1944, in which Hayek spells out the case for subjectivism and methodological individualism in the social sciences. The UK edition was published the same year by George Allen & Unwin.
