Thomas adapted this every day story of grave robbing folk for dramatic performance in the mid 1940s. And indeed Dent first set the book in 1946 getting the process of publication as far as producing a handful of uncorrected proof copies. Publication however would be delayed some seven years until the present edition was brought out with a considerably revised text and became the basis for the 1985 film starring Timothy Dalton.
Octavo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket.
Corners a trifle rubbed, the binding otherwise sharp, internally crisp. A fine copy in fresh jacket, corners a little chipped, faint dust-soiling, not price-clipped.
