The Edwardians.
London: Published by Leonard & Virginia, The Hogarth Press, 1930 Stock Code: 145252
First edition, first impression. The Edwardians "celebrated the lavish style of country house life that she had observed in her parents' heyday at Knole" (ODNB). There was also a signed limited edition of 125 copies. This book is uncommon in the jacket and in collectable condition, as here.
This copy has a highly distinguished collector's provenance, bearing the bookplate of William Beekman loosely inserted. Much of Beekman's excellent Bloomsbury Group and Hogarth Press collection now forms part of the Berg Collection at the New York Public Library.
Description
Octavo. Original orange cloth, titles to spine in gilt. With the dust jacket.
Condition
Spine ends a touch bumped, the binding otherwise sound and vibrant, light dust-soiling to top edge, very occasional faint spotting to contents, else internally clean and fresh. A near-fine copy in the fresh jacket with small nicks and edge-splits to corners and edges, light foxing and toning to verso, bright.
