Signed limited edition, number 271 of 750 copies signed by the artist. Rackham's first edition of the Fairy Tales, published in 1900, is here revised and enlarged with some new illustrations, as well as others redrawn and coloured.

Mrs Edgar Lucas, the translator, was born Alice Erichsen, the daughter of Hermann Erichsen, a Danish businessman who had settled first in Newcastle, then in Tooting, where Alice met her husband. She made successful translations from the Danish of Hans Christian Andersen and Henrik Pontoppidan. Her sister was the artist and illustrator Nelly Erichsen (1862-1918).
