An essential part of any golfing library, written by one of the great writers on the sport. Donovan & Murdoch note that the golf courses of Ireland were "eliminated" from the second edition (1925).
Large square octavo. Original green cloth, titles and floral decoration to spine and front cover in gilt and green picturing the Scottish thistle, the English rose, and the Irish shamrock, top edge gilt, others untrimmed.
Colour frontispiece and 63 colour or monochrome plates with captioned tissue-guards by Harry Rountree.
Spine rolled, corners gently bumped, extremities rubbed, lightly foxed throughout; still a very good copy.
