Notes

New edition, the third printing overall (following the first of 1932), revised with a new preface by Mosley. "In the summer of 1932 he worked on his book The Greater Britain. The economic programme was the New Party's. Tagged onto it was an unconvincing argument purporting to show why only fascism could carry out the New Party programme. Its appeal to him - and those he hoped to attract - was more emotional than rational: it was a political evocation of the manly comradeship of the trenches, and he contrasted its hard, lean modern aesthetic with the softness and clutter of bourgeois life. There was as yet no mention of the Jews" (ODNB).
