The Human Person and Society.London : 1940 Stock Code: 121495
NotesCorrected proof copy, extensively annotated by the author. Gill's corrections in brown ink are on almost every page, emending typographical errors. It is accompanied by two leaves of suggestions of manuscript corrections for the printed text, listed in black ink, consisting of typographical and structural alterations, with ticks by Gill in brown ink matching that in the proof copy. A margin note by Gill, similarly in brown ink, identifies these corrections as coming from a W.W. It is possible that this is Wilfred Wellock (1879-1972), MP and active member of the Peace Pledge Union.
Published in 1940 this pamphlet was the first in a series written under the general title of The Bond of Peace. Wellock wrote the third volume, Money Has Destroyed Your Peace (1940). The Human Person and Society is one of Gill's final publications; published in March 1940; Gill died in November of the same year.
