Limited edition, number 722 of 1,000 copies designed by Ron Arad and published to mark the sixtieth anniversary of Penguin Classics. The Idiot was first published serially in the journal The Russian Messenger in 1868-9, and was first translated into English from the Russian by Frederick Whishaw in 1887. The translation used in this edition, by David McDuff, was first published in 2004.
