The Intrusion of Jimmy.New York: W. J. Watt & Company, 1910 Stock Code: 124315
First edition, preceding the UK edition by six months. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author four days after publication on the front free endpaper, "To Harrison Fisher with the author's compliments, P. G. Wodehouse. May 16 1910". Fisher (1877-1934) was an American illustrator known for his drawings of women, winning acclaim as the successor to Charles Dana Gibson. His work appeared regularly on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine, who published many of Wodehouse's stories, from the early 1900s until his death.
Octavo. Original black cloth, titles to spine gilt, front board blocked in green, yellow, and gilt with onlaid oval of a woman's face.
1940s ownership inscription below Wodehouse's inscription on the front free endpaper. Spine tanned, spine titles dulled, lightly rubbed at extremities with some scuffs to rear board, some chipping of pigment from front board, dampstain to edges of leaves, particularly the latter leaves. A very good copy.
