The Invisible Voices.
London: Richards, 1935 Stock Code: 68836
First edition, first impression. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "Harold Taves from M. P. Shiel. Christmas, 1935. 'L'Abri', New Rd., Worthing Rd., Horsham, Sussex, England." Taves was a correspondent of Shiel's who worked with the poet Edward Doro to sell Shiel's novels to Hollywood. He later owned a bookstore in Seattle and sold his collection of inscribed Shiel books prior to his death. A beautiful copy of a book that is particularly scarce in the dust jacket.
Description
Octavo. Original orange cloth, titles to spine and front board in black, vertical stripes to front board in blind. With dust jacket. Housed in a tan cloth solander case.
Condition
Spine faded, cloth very lightly rubbed at the extremities, contents toned, but cloth to boards bright and attractive. An excellent copy in the dust jacket with a few tiny chips at the edges.
