The Last Man.London: John Murray, 1940 Stock Code: 79253
First edition, first impression. Rare, particularly in the dust jacket, this is one of the earliest novels to incorporate a doomsday device. It was critically well-received, with George Orwell writing that the book "raises a real problem decay in the belief in absolute good and evil".
Octavo. Original red cloth, titles to spine and front board in black. With dust jacket.
Ownership inscription to front pastedown. A little rubbed and toned at extremities, lower corner bumped and with a small white mark, spotting to edges of text block, partial tanning to free endpapers. An excellent copy in the rubbed, tanned, and chipped jacket with some closed tears.
