It was first published in Italy in 1904, and the author was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1934 "for his bold and ingenious revival of dramatic and scenic art" (Nobel Prize). Uncommon in such good condition and in the dust jacket.

Woodcut bookplate of Louis Samuel to front pastedown. Spine ends slightly bumped, a touch rubbed, affecting gilt lettering, the binding otherwise bright and firm, internally fresh. A near-fine copy in the near-fine jacket, spine panel uniformly sunned, minor marking to rear panel.
