Fox's classic Civil War tale was originally published by Scribner's Sons in 1903, with illustrations by F. C. Yohn. A handsomely illustrated copy, with the uncommon glassine jacket.
Large octavo. Original japon-backed blue and yellow check cloth, titles to spine gilt, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, blue endpapers. With the glassine jacket. Housed in the blue box, japon label to lid, numbered in manuscript.

Contemporary Christmas ownership inscription to inside cover of box lid. An excellent copy, partly unopened, in the lightly yellowed glassine jacket with slight loss to foot of front flap, laid-in. In the lightly browned box, slight wear to extremities.
