Second edition, same year as the first. Third Anglo-Mysore War. Uncommon, and detailed account drawn from official accounts of Cornwallis and Medows's campaigns against Tipu Sultan down to the Battle of Arakere in May 1791. Tipu's army was routed and retreated into Seringapatam, but the British forces were forced to return to Bangalore by the problems of supply that had dogged the entire campaign. The map referred to on the title page was issued separately, and is "lacking" from all copies listed on WorldCat, which locates just a single copy, the India Office Records copy in BL. "The father of Indian geography", Rennell served with both the East India Company's marine and military as surveyor and draughtsman, in the 1780s producing a series of maps, atlases and memoranda which were much reprinted and set the standard for future works.
