First edition, first impression, the first collected edition of White's Arthurian epic.

In The Once and Future King, White revised the shorter novels published from 1938 to 1941, added new material and made significant textual changes. It is divided into four parts: "The Sword in the Stone"; "The Queen of Air and Darkness" (a completely revised and re-titled version of the second book in the series, originally published separately as The Witch in the Wood); "The Ill-Made Knight"; and "The Candle in the Wind", published here for the first time.
