The Owl Remembers,
Gaelic Poems Selected and Edited with Notes.Stirling: Eneas Mackay, 1933 Stock Code: 141571
First edition, first impression, with a charming original verse inscription by McGlynn to the front free endpaper:
"Not many artists of this age Are great, without a flaw: But Percy, on and off the stage, Has shown how he can 'draw'! But should his talent cease to cheer And life need consolation, 'The Owl' will whisper in his ear And give him inspiration! Patrick McGlynn March 1934 W. S. Percy."
W. S. Percy is likely the Australian stage comedian and actor (1872-1946), who spent the majority of his career in England.
Octavo. Original quarter cream cloth cream leather boards, titles to spine gilt, top edge gilt. With dust jacket.
Booksellers ticket to front pastedown. Spine head a little bumped, with some occasional soiling but otherwise remarkably bright covers, two tips a touch bumped and worn, occasional light foxing to prelims. A very good copy, in the attractive and not-price clipped dust jacket, dust jacket, a touch soiled and sunned, with a little loss to head of spine and some chips and short closed tears to extremities.
