First edition, first printing. Inscribed by the author on front free endpaper: "To Colonel James M. Phalen, Dept Surgeon 1927-30. One of the men who helped make the Panama Canal what it is Today. America is Proud of these men. Regards & Respect, Walter G. Ross Oct 19th 1951. Washington, D.C." Phalen went to Panama as Department Surgeon in 1927.

Description

Original blue cloth, titles to spine gilt, titles and decorations to front board gilt.

Condition

Spine ends and corners slightly bumped, boards lightly soiled, lightly foxed edges, a small ink stain to top edge, a small, very light dampstain along the margins of the text block. A very good copy.
