An attractive collection of Goldsmith's poems, in a contemporary binding, the text printed small but perfectly legible. "Goldsmith's fame spread to both the European and North American continents. Johann Wolfgang Goethe testified that at the age of twenty, in Strasbourg, he was awakened by The Vicar of Wakefield to create a new field of letters" (ODNB).
Sextodecimo (97 x 55 mm). Contemporary straight-grained calf, black morocco label to spine lettered in gilt, raised bands ruled in gilt, gilt tooling to compartments and covers, triple blind fillets to covers, turn-ins tooled in gilt, marbled endpapers and edges, brown silk bookmarker.
