Leather-bound set of Milne's novels in first editions
First editions, first impressions. When We Were Young is a first first state, with the contents page ix unnumbered and also has a presentation stamp to the title page. The little bear described by Christopher Milne in his autobiography as his "inseparable companion" has also become the inseparable companion of generations of children, often remaining the object of that faith late into adulthood. First appearing in 1924, along with his troop of animal friends, in When We Were Very Young, Winnie-the-Pooh was immortalised in Milne's two volumes of poetry and two story books. The illustrations by E. H. Shepard are probably as much loved as Milne's words - the combination of their talents making the books' appeal remarkably enduring.Description
