The Priest and the Acolyte.
With an Introductory Protest by Stuart Mason.Lotus Press, 1907 Stock Code: 103926
First edition thus; the copy of Anthony Powell, with his bookplate to the front pastedown. Originally published anonymously in The Chameleon in December 1894, this was mistakenly attributed to Oscar Wilde and was included in his libel case against the Marquis of Queensbury in 1895. In this edition Mason refutes the erroneous authorship and quotes widely from the court case.
Slim octavo. Grey paper covered boards, with white title labels lettered in black on the spine and upper cover. Top and front edges untrimmed.
A very good copy of a rare and fragile item. Spine ends showing a little wear, with some rubbing to the front joint and spine label fraying. Foxing throughout and some pages crudely opened (no text affected).
