The Real History of Money Island.London: The Brotherhood Publishing Company, 1896 Stock Code: 134867
First edition. The German economist Flürscheim (1844-1912) was a supporter of the single-tax movement, and promoted his own currency system. In this book he gives a fantastical account of "Money Island", where his ideas are put into practice, with a single tax and a banking system based on the exchange of commodities, using "labour notes", not money.
Octavo. Original brown cloth, spine and front cover lettered in gilt, front cover stamped in blind, patterned endpapers.
Spine a little bumped at ends, some minor marks to cloth, light toning to endpapers and facing pages. A very good copy.
