The Royal Shakespeare Theatre Edition of The Sonnets.London, Shepheard-Walwyn, 1974 Stock Code: 140828
NotesSigned limited edition, number 46 of 260 copies, signed on the introduction leaf by the actress Dame Peggy Ashcroft and on the limitation leaf by the calligrapher. Attractively bound, this edition of the sonnets is printed in calligraphic form, since, as Ashcroft writes in her introduction, "when first written the Sonnets circulated 'among his private friends'... it seems most appropriate that they should be offered once again in a hand-written form".
Folio. Bound by Morrell for the publishers in red full morocco, titles to spine and roundel to front board gilt, inner dentelles and edges gilt, marbled endpapers. In the original red slipcase.
One corner slightly bumped, a fine, unmarked copy, in the original slipcase, partially split at edges.
