Yeats's lyrical, visionary play - "a lengthy Wagnerian verse drama" (ODNB) - tells the love story of Forgael, a dreamer-pirate, and Dectora, a proud queen whose ship he captures. Provenance: with the bookplate of Oliver Brett, 3rd Viscount Esher (1881-1963), whose sister Dorothy was friends with Ottoline Morrell and mingled with the Bloomsbury Group.
Quarto. Original blue vertical-grain cloth, titles to spine, flower motif to front board gilt, top edge gilt, bevelled boards.
Small inked ownership inscription to front pastedown. Small patch of wear to head of spine and fore-edge of boards, light foxing to endleaves, spine ends bumped and rubbed. A very good copy.
