Notes

First edition, first impression, one of 500 copies printed. Yeats's lyrical, visionary play - "a lengthy Wagnerian verse drama" (ODNB) - tells the love story of Forgael, a dreamer-pirate, and Dectora, a proud queen whose ship he captures. Provenance: with the bookplate of Oliver Brett, 3rd Viscount Esher (1881-1963), whose sister Dorothy was friends with Ottoline Morrell and mingled with the Bloomsbury Group.
