This strikingly-illustrated and handsomely-produced book sees both Kinsella and Le Brocquy together, executing their most notable work, in doing justice to the Táin Bó Cúailnge (or The Cattle Raid of Cooley), an ancient Irish epic set in the heroic age of the pre-Christian 1st century. "The original edition sold out very quickly and within a year the second edition had become one of the standard Oxford University Press paperbacks in a lithographic reproduction" (Miller).
